We will provide full consultations and briefings, a complete set of plans that can be either hand drawn landscape drawings or computer generated images for you to view of your new proposed garden layout. We will also provide advice on the process of lodgement with Council if necessary.
When you are happy with the garden layout and approve of the landscape drawings and our proposed fee schedule we can go ahead with the landscaping construction and create your new backyard haven.
Retaining Walls
When creating a new landscaped garden it is important for our landscape designer to consider possible problems with erosion. Our landscaping construction team believe that retaining walls are one of the best ways to help prevent damage to your property through erosion caused by water runoff or other natural elements.
Although retaining walls are great for the purpose of preventing possible erosion we also tend to use them for decorative landscaping purposes, for instance:
You may need to level out a sloping block for increased garden space
Or you may be creating a landscaped illusion of bigger space
Or maybe you are wanting to creating separate levels within a garden bed for visual interest
A retaining wall built on your property will successfully do all of the above and of course will look great once finished. Retaining walls can be built with a variety of mediums; including wood, stone, interlocking blocks, concrete etc. Choosing the one that is right for your landscaped garden will make all the difference to the final look and feel of your backyard.
*To build a retaining wall in excess of 1 metre high or less than 1.5 metres away from a building may require building approval from your local Council.
Driveway Paving and Pool Paving
Pavers are quiet fashionable and yet a budget friendly solution when it comes to paving a courtyard, BBQ area, driveway paving, garden steps or landscaped pool area. Incorporating paving into your landscaping design is not only a good option but is generally a low maintenance option as well.
Driveway pavers are available in a variety of styles and colours and can be chosen to suit your needs, design and budget. Driveway paving is a versatile medium and because it is flexible it will expand and contract with our extreme Australian weather conditions, unlike concrete that tends to crack during times of stress. When the ground has been properly prepared driveway paving will not sink and should withstand even the toughest of traffic. Our landscape construction team will prepare and lay your driveway paving to the correct standards ensuring it will last for many years to come.
Chief International Landscape Design knows that when installing pool pavers around your pool area it is important to consider the safety of your family and friends. Installation of non slip pool pavers is the best and safest option and it is also wise to choose pavers that are gentle on your feet. Pool paving should also have a fast water runoff to help stop dangerous and unwanted puddles from forming.
Pavers come in a range of different mediums including:
Clay – reusable, absorbent and very low maintenance
Concrete – replacement of broken pavers is relatively easy
Granite – very hard wearing
Natural stone – versatile, has an ageless look and feel about it
Turf Laying
Chief International Landscape Design will supply and lay your new turf for you. After assessing which turf grass would be best for your family’s needs our landscaping construction team will go ahead with the site preparation and turf laying of your new lawn turf.
Choosing the right kind of turf for your lawn can be quiet daunting, however our experienced landscapers can help you choose the right turf grass to suite the climate you live in and traffic needs.
Wintergreen (Cynodon dactylon) – this turf grass loves a sunny area with high traffic conditions. Colours can range from a dark to a light green shade. This lawn turf will adapt to its environment and has a very good tolerance to frosty cold conditions.
Palmetto Soft Leaf Buffalo Grass (Stenotaprum secundatum) – this turf grass tolerates shady areas well (3hrs daily of full sunlight) and is tolerant to frosty cold conditions. Will wear well in high traffic areas and is a low maintenance grass. It is a dark green turf lawn with a broad leaf and thick coarse texture.
Queensland Blue Couch (Digitaria didactyla) – this turf grass has excellent sun tolerance; it is a deep green in colour and is very soft and fine underfoot. Tolerant of coastal weather conditions this lawn grass makes and ideal choice for high traffic areas around you home.,
Empire Zoysia Grass (Zoysia japonica spp) - also known as Japanese Grass this turf grass has been labelled E-Z (easy) grass because of its low maintenance. This lawn turf is shade resistant (4-5 hrs daily of full sunlight) and endures high traffic. It performs well in sandy and clay soils. It has a slower growth rate and has a soft textured dark green colour all year round.
Sir Walter Grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) – This lawn grass is a quality soft buffalo grass that was bred in Australia to suite our harsh Australian conditions. It is drought and frost resistant, extremely hard wearing and shade tolerant. This lawn turf has a lovely deep green colour and establishes itself quickly.
As you can see there are many types of garden turf that are compatible with different climates and different turfs that will handle various amounts of traffic. Chief International Landscape Design can advise you on the best lawn turf for your needs and will lay your new turf without a fuss.
